May 25 When We Were Short and StupidWhere to begin? I've done so many stupid things in my life its hard to pick out one or even three..... I was creative at a very young age. I liked to draw and do crafts for as far back as I can remember. Unbeknownst to my dad I was getting creative with crayons. Not on the walls, not on the floors, not even in coloring books. MY crayons were magic and if melted over a lightbulb of a lamp sitting on the floor would transfer my room into a kaliediscope of colors when everything but that lamp was turned off. At this young age of five or six I had no foresight what-so-ever. The crayons were NOT making my room into the magical kingdonm of color. The damn wax would melt alright, melted into smoke or ran melted down to the socket and puddle around it. Standing beside the lamp I unscrewed the light after several attempts and the realization that it was HOT. Finally the bulb cooled enough for my scorched little hands to unscrew the bulb. Here's where foresight would have been helpful. Setting the bulb beside me I peered into the empty socket. Whats that? Wax at the bottom of the socket? Got to get that outta there. Leaning over the lamps socket I reached in with one finger to scrape the wax out..... ZAP!!!! The current coursing through me held me there a few seconds before throwing my hand back up in my face full force hitting me right between the eyes. I had punched myself out. My poor parents discovered me lying on the floor, lamp with no bulb in it and, well, after they had looked me over to make sure I was alive I got a whooping like I had never had before! The next day I went to school with two black eyes from punching myself out, and one very sore ass!
